Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command have recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs during operations carried out across the territory.

The command also handed over the recovered substances and suspects arrested in connection with the drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the handover was conducted on Friday by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.

According to Adeh, the exercise was part of the ongoing collaboration between the police and NDLEA to combat drug-related crimes and other criminal activities in the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the handover, Sanusi reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Police Command to supporting the NDLEA in eliminating illicit drugs from the nation’s capital.

He said the police had conducted a major raid across the FCT, resulting in the recovery of a significant quantity of suspected illicit substances.

Receiving the suspects and recovered items on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, its Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, commended the police for strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

Orji assured that the suspects would undergo proper investigation and, where appropriate, be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
