Nigerian actress, Bunmi Nelson, has expressed regret over failing to recognise the potential of fellow actress Funke Akindele when she sought her assistance early in her career.

Nelson made the revelation during an interview with actress Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B podcast.

Reflecting on their encounter in 2006, the actress admitted that she never imagined Akindele would eventually achieve the level of success she has attained today.

“If I knew Funke would go far like this, I would have held her tight,” Nelson said.

She advised people not to underestimate or look down on others, stressing that circumstances can change and no one knows what the future holds.

Nelson recalled that she used to make her house available for film productions and was also involved in a soap opera at the time.

According to her, Akindele approached her after needing a location for a production and even brought Mama Fali Werepe to her home in Magodo.

However, Nelson said she made the mistake of ignoring Akindele’s calls because she did not realise the opportunity before her.

“I missed that big opportunity in 2006 and 2007 because she was telling them to join the Yoruba movie industry,” she said.

The actress said her experience taught her an important lesson about humility and the need to treat people with respect regardless of their status at a particular time.

“If there’s anything I have learned in this life, it is humility. I’m more humble now than anything else because life has taught me the hard way that nothing is constant,” she stated.
