Veteran Nigerian actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has reportedly been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, with his family appealing for medical assistance.
His daughter, Shaki Taiwo, made the appeal in a video shared on Instagram on Monday night, revealing that doctors had stopped his treatment because of the severity of his condition.
According to Shaki, the family is seeking anyone who can provide medical or traditional treatment to help her father.
She also disclosed that the actor is in pain and has expressed his desire to continue living.
Shaki thanked Senator Yayi for his support, saying he had been covering the actor’s medical expenses, but stressed that the family’s immediate need was access to effective treatment.
In a separate Instagram post, Ogogo’s second daughter, Haleemah, said the family only became aware of their father’s diagnosis about three weeks ago.
The family has therefore appealed to medical professionals, organisations and individuals with possible treatment options to come to the actor’s aid.
Ogogo is a veteran figure in the Nigerian film industry, particularly known for his contributions to Yoruba-language cinema.
