Detectives attached to the Obantoko Division of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” for allegedly defrauding 18 fellowship members of about ₦2.5 million.
The suspect was arrested on August 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, following four months of intelligence gathering and discreet investigation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Makinde allegedly collected the money from fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
The suspect allegedly promised each of the 18 members ₦2 million.
Police also alleged that Makinde had manipulated unsuspecting victims across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states under the guise of providing spiritual deliverance.
Babaseyi said the suspect remains in police custody as detectives work to identify additional victims and apprehend his alleged accomplices.
In a separate operation, police officers attached to the Owode-Egba Division recovered an abandoned white Toyota Hilux along the Alapako–Ogunmakin Road. The vehicle’s owner later confirmed that it had been stolen from his residence four days earlier.
Police also arrested 31-year-old Samuel Adetunji for allegedly stealing a commercial tricycle entrusted to him by its owner. The tricycle was recovered at Rounder, Abeokuta.
The police spokesperson said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
