Zambia’s Barbra Banda is currently the leading scorer at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), despite her team’s early exit from the competition.

The 26-year-old striker increased her goal tally to five after scoring in Zambia’s 2-1 victory over Malawi on Wednesday.

Banda now leads the tournament’s scoring chart by two goals, ahead of Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga and Ivory Coast’s Inès Konan, who have three goals each.

Despite her impressive individual performance, Zambia failed to qualify for the quarter-finals after finishing third in Group C behind Nigeria and Malawi.

The tournament’s leading scorers so far are:

  • Barbra Banda (Zambia) – 5 goals
  • Temwa Chawinga (Malawi) – 3 goals
  • Inès Konan (Ivory Coast) – 3 goals
  • Marie Ngah (Cameroon) – 3 goals
  • Uchenna Kanu (Nigeria) – 2 goals
  • Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria) – 2 goals
  • Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria) – 2 goals

With the knockout stage set to begin, the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot remains wide open as the remaining contenders look to close the gap on Banda.
