The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has submitted an interim report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on its investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Speaking with State House correspondents after presenting the report, ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu disclosed that the commission found no evidence that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew was appointed by the Federal Government or the Presidency.

President Tinubu had ordered the investigation on July 7 following public concerns over the existence and legitimacy of the council, directing the ICPC to conclude its preliminary findings within 30 days.

According to Aliyu, the investigation established that Adeyemi Matthew was never appointed by any authority of the Federal Government.

He further revealed that the commission found the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council was never created through any law, executive order or any other official government instrument.

The ICPC chairman also disclosed that the appointment letter presented by Adeyemi Matthew, along with other documents used in the council’s operations, were forged and used to facilitate the activities of the illegal organisation.

The commission said investigations into the matter are ongoing as it continues efforts to uncover all those involved in the alleged fraud.
