The Osun State Government has denied claims made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC that it looted N11 billion ecological funds. The agency froze the state government account on Wednesday, August 5.

In a statement released last night, the agency said it noticed some fraudulent transfers of the state ecological and intervention funds into a private account and moved in to freeze the account. Reacting to the allegation, the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, dismissed the claim.

The state government insisted that there was no financial misconduct and accused the anti-graft agency of acting on the directive of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to frustrate the payment of palliatives to workers.

“The real reason the commission froze the state account on the order of Gboyega Oyetola was to stop the payment of palliatives which the state government promised the workers some months ago,” the statement said.
