Popular political singer Muhammadu Buhari, widely known as Kosan Waka, has died at the age of 47.

According to his family, the singer passed away on Sunday and was scheduled to be buried later the same day in Tsanni Village, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Reacting to the news, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s passing and extended his condolences to his family, friends, associates, fans, and the people of Kano State.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described Kosan Waka as a patriotic son of Katsina whose music went beyond politics and served as a platform for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment.

Governor Yusuf prayed for Allah to forgive the late singer’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.

Kosan Waka was widely recognised across northern Nigeria for his political songs and performances. The Kano State Government said his contributions to political communication and the Hausa entertainment industry would remain a lasting legacy.
