_Council Boss Calls for Unity, Stronger Partnerships and Renewed Commitment to Grassroots Development._

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has called for renewed commitment to community development, peace and collective responsibility as the people of Awgu enter the month of November, reaffirming his administration’s determination to advance grassroots development and improve the welfare of residents.

In his November New Month goodwill message, issued on Sunday, November 1, 2026, through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the Chairman described the new month as another opportunity for reflection, renewed determination and purposeful action towards building a more prosperous Awgu.

Hon. Okolo commended the people for their continued support, patience and cooperation with the local government, noting that sustainable development requires a strong partnership between government and the communities it serves.

He stressed that the progress of Awgu depends not only on government policies and projects but also on the willingness of residents to embrace peace, protect public infrastructure, support legitimate development initiatives and contribute positively to the growth of their respective communities.

According to him, the collective interest of Awgu must remain greater than individual differences, political disagreements or sectional considerations.

“November presents us with another opportunity to strengthen our unity, renew our commitment to development and work together for the Awgu we all desire. Government cannot achieve its full potential without the cooperation and active participation of the people. Together, we can build stronger communities and create a better future for the next generation,” the Chairman stated.

*PEOPLE’S WELFARE REMAINS TOP PRIORITY*

The Council Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to responsible, transparent and people-oriented governance, emphasising that the needs and welfare of residents would continue to guide its priorities.

He noted that grassroots governance must translate into meaningful improvements in the everyday lives of the people, particularly through efforts aimed at strengthening infrastructure, supporting rural communities, improving access to essential services and creating opportunities for young people.

Hon. Okolo also called on community leaders, traditional rulers, town unions, youth organisations, women’s groups and other stakeholders to sustain their contributions to peacebuilding and community development.

He maintained that the responsibility of building a better Awgu should not rest on government alone, urging residents to see themselves as important partners in the development process.

The Chairman further encouraged the people to remain hopeful and committed to legitimate economic activities, assuring them that his administration would continue to work towards an environment where communities, families and businesses could thrive.

*OKOLO REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR GOVERNOR MBAH’S TRANSFORMATIONAL AGENDA*

Hon. Okolo also reaffirmed his administration’s support for the development vision of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose reform agenda places emphasis on infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, agriculture, technology and economic growth.

He noted that effective collaboration between the state and local governments remains essential to extending the benefits of development to communities at the grassroots.

The Chairman expressed confidence that sustained cooperation between the two tiers of government would continue to create opportunities for local communities, strengthen public services and advance the broader development aspirations of Enugu State.

He called on the people of Awgu to support initiatives that promote peace, investment, productivity and the common good, stressing that unity and constructive engagement remain essential ingredients for sustainable progress.

Hon. Okolo maintained that his administration would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that Awgu remains part of the wider transformation taking place across Enugu State.

*NOVEMBER: A CALL TO ACTION*

As the new month begins, the Council Chairman urged residents to remain law-abiding, security-conscious and committed to peaceful coexistence, while encouraging families, business owners, farmers, traders and young people to approach the month with renewed energy and determination.

He prayed for good health, peace, divine protection, greater opportunities and success for individuals and families across Awgu, expressing optimism that the month would bring positive developments and renewed confidence in the future.

Hon. Okolo further encouraged residents to continue placing the collective interest of Awgu above personal differences, noting that lasting development is achieved when leadership and citizens work towards a common purpose.

He expressed confidence that, with unity, responsible leadership and the continued cooperation of the people, Awgu Local Government Area would make further progress in its pursuit of a safer, more prosperous and development-driven society.

The November message reinforces the Chairman’s call for a stronger partnership between government and citizens, with a clear emphasis on community participation, peaceful coexistence and the shared responsibility of building a better Awgu.
