*GRAND ARRIVAL AND WARM RECEPTION*
The journey to Port Harcourt began with members assembling at Villa Toscana Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, the club’s headquarters, from where they departed in an organised and luxurious convoy at approximately 12 noon on Friday, October 23.
The delegation arrived in Port Harcourt at about 4 p.m. and received a warm welcome from the National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Frank Obasi; and members of the Organising Committee led by the Vice National Chairman, Sir Darlington Ogochukwu Ogbonna, who had arrived ahead of the delegation to ensure that all necessary arrangements were in place.
Following the reception, members checked into their respective rooms, settled down and subsequently assembled for a media interaction and welcome dinner.
In his welcome remarks, the National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, expressed gratitude to God for the safe journey and thanked members for honouring the invitation despite their demanding personal and professional schedules.
He outlined the programmes and activities lined up for the retreat and AGM, emphasising the importance of commitment, discipline, participation and collective responsibility in sustaining the club’s growth.

*EXCITING FOOTBALL MATCH SETS THE TONE FOR CAMARADERIE*
The second day, Saturday, October 24, commenced at 8 a.m. with an exciting friendly football encounter that brought out the sporting spirit, enthusiasm and competitive energy among members.
Participants were divided into different teams, distinguished by their colourful jerseys, notably black and red.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Frank Obasi, captained the Black Team, while the National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, led the Red Team.
The encounter was characterised by excitement, friendly rivalry, humour, music, dancing and entertainment, providing members with an opportunity to relax, interact and strengthen the bonds of friendship that define the club.
Beyond the sporting contest, the match reinforced the club’s philosophy that sports remain an important instrument for promoting unity, healthy relationships and togetherness among members.
*TOSCANA’S ALL-WHITE POOL PARTY DELIVERS AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE*
One of the major highlights of the retreat was the much-anticipated Toscana Sports Club Luxury All-White Pool Party, held later that evening.
The event attracted members and invited guests, all elegantly dressed in beautiful all-white outfits complemented by customised caps, creating a distinctive and coordinated atmosphere.
The poolside venue was transformed into an impressive entertainment destination through premium decorations, beautiful floral arrangements, exquisite woodwork designs, sophisticated lighting, quality sound production and carefully planned event styling.

For many participants, it was more than an ordinary social gathering; it was a celebration of the friendships, shared experiences and strong relationships that have continued to define Toscana Sports Club.
*3RD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: NATIONAL CHAIRMAN REAFFIRMS UNITY, DISCIPLINE AND INSTITUTIONAL GROWTH*
Sunday, October 25, marked the climax of the gathering with the club’s 3rd Annual General Meeting, where members assembled to deliberate on important issues concerning the administration, development, unity and future direction of the organisation.
In his welcome address, the National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, described the occasion as another significant milestone in the history of Toscana Sports Club.
Reflecting on the club’s humble beginnings, he explained that Toscana Sports Club emerged from the friendship of individuals who shared common interests, particularly their love for sporting activities and social interaction.
According to him, what began with friends gathering to play snooker gradually developed into a structured social club founded on friendship, mutual care, loyalty and shared professional sporting experiences.
He paid tribute to the founding members for their vision, dedication, commitment and loyalty, noting that their initiative laid the foundation for the organisation’s present achievements.
The National Chairman also specially recognised the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Frank Obasi, popularly known as Ozo Odinawa Eriaku, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Villa Toscana and Townplace Hotel.
He equally acknowledged the contributions of former National Chairmen, including the pioneer chairman, Chief Obinna Ekwuogo (Aka Money); Chief Stanley Egbogu (Noni King); Chief Chied oziem Ejeagbasi (D Don); and Chief Kelechi Nkwocha (Goodness & Mercy).
Chief Nze further commended members who had continued to support the club’s activities through financial contributions, personal sacrifices and other forms of commitment.
*THREE YEARS OF PROGRESS AND A GROWING INSTITUTIONAL IDENTITY*
Reviewing the club’s journey since the maiden edition of its annual retreat in Port Harcourt three years ago, the National Chairman observed that the organisation had recorded considerable improvements in its operations, administrative structures, functions and members’ participation.
He noted that members’ interest in the club’s activities had continued to grow, while the organisation had witnessed greater understanding, cooperation and collective achievements.
He urged members to sustain the progress by building on the achievements already recorded.
Describing the club’s growing reputation, Chief Nze stated that Toscana Sports Club had become a reference point among social clubs, with its operational procedures and organisational practices attracting attention and being emulated by other clubs.
He captured the club’s identity in its popular expression:
“*Toscana Sports Club goes, others follow.”*
The National Chairman also acknowledged the economic and financial challenges confronting individuals and families, explaining that the club had maintained relationships with members who, for different reasons, could no longer actively participate in its activities.
He emphasised that the bonds of friendship established through the club should remain valuable beyond financial obligations or active membership.
According to him, any member experiencing difficulties in meeting the club’s financial commitments should be able to communicate honestly, while the friendships and relationships built over the years should be preserved.
*CONSTITUTIONAL COMPLIANCE AND RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP*
Another major point in the National Chairman’s address was the importance of the club’s constitution as the foundation of its administration, discipline and continued existence.
He reminded members that the constitution remained the guiding instrument for the organisation’s day-to-day activities and the appropriate reference point whenever disagreements, uncertainties or administrative challenges arose.
He therefore urged members to respect and uphold its provisions at all times, stressing that the continued unity and stability of the club depended largely on collective adherence to established rules and procedures.
In a significant announcement, Chief Nze disclosed that the club’s constitution had been produced in booklet form, with every member expected to receive a personal copy.
He explained that the initiative was designed to improve members’ understanding of the club’s rules, responsibilities, procedures and expectations.
Concluding his address, the National Chairman encouraged members to maximise the opportunities provided by the annual gathering by participating actively in deliberations, contributing positively to the organisation’s programmes, building new friendships, relaxing and collectively charting a sustainable way forward.
He wished members fruitful deliberations and prayed for God’s blessings upon the club and their respective families.
He concluded with the club’s familiar declaration:
*“Long Live Toscana Sports Club! Long Live Us All!”*
*TSC — NO BALL, NO GAME.*
*FINANCIAL LITERACY TAKES CENTRE STAGE*
The AGM also featured a keynote lecture on financial literacy delivered by Mr Wisdom Essien of United Capital, a subsidiary of United Bank for Africa (UBA).
The presentation formed part of the club’s efforts to broaden members’ understanding of financial matters and encourage informed financial decisions.
The inclusion of financial literacy in the AGM programme further demonstrated the organisation’s interest in providing members with opportunities for learning, personal development and knowledge-sharing beyond its sporting and social engagements.
Members subsequently deliberated on several important matters relating to the administration, welfare, unity, growth and future development of the club.
The discussions provided an opportunity for members to express their views, exchange ideas and contribute to decisions aimed at strengthening the organisation.
*STANDING OVATION FOR BOT CHAIRMAN, CHIEF FRANK OBASI*
One of the most emotional and memorable moments of the AGM was the special recognition and standing ovation accorded to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Frank Obasi, in appreciation of his remarkable support, generosity and contributions to the growth of Toscana Sports Club.
The National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, used the occasion to publicly acknowledge the enormous sacrifices made by Chief Obasi and his consistent commitment to providing an enabling environment for the club’s activities.
He particularly highlighted Chief Obasi’s generosity in making the facilities of Villa Toscana Hotel available to the club for its programmes and gatherings without charging venue fees.
The National Chairman noted that this support extended beyond Port Harcourt to the club’s activities in Enugu and other locations where the hospitality facilities associated with Chief Obasi had been made available.
He explained that the club had enjoyed considerable benefits from the arrangement over the years, adding that such gestures represented significant contributions to the organisation’s stability, growth and ability to sustain its activities.
The recognition was greeted with a standing ovation from members, who celebrated Chief Obasi’s consistent support and commitment to the club.
The gesture underscored the importance of generosity, sacrifice, institutional partnership and collective responsibility in building and sustaining successful organisations.
*PRESS CONFERENCE: LEADERSHIP OUTLINES FUTURE DIRECTION*
The three-day programme of activities culminated in a press conference during which the National Chairman, Chief Hon. Nnanna Nze, spoke about the success of the 3rd AGM and Retreat, the achievements recorded and the organisation’s plans for the coming year and beyond.
He reflected on the importance of the annual gathering as a platform for reviewing the club’s activities, strengthening relationships, addressing administrative issues and developing strategies for future growth.
The press interaction also provided an opportunity to communicate the club’s vision and reaffirm its commitment to maintaining the standards, values and traditions that have distinguished Toscana Sports Club.
*TOSCANA: BEYOND SPORTS, A BOND OF FRIENDSHIP AND EXCELLENCE*
The successful conclusion of the 3rd Edition of the Toscana Sports Club AGM and Retreat in Port Harcourt represents another chapter in the organisation’s evolving history.
From the organised convoy from Enugu to the warm reception in Port Harcourt, the friendly football match, the spectacular All-White Pool Party, the strategic AGM and the recognition of outstanding contributions, the gathering reflected the club’s commitment to combining sporting interests with friendship, social responsibility, leadership and institutional development.
The three consecutive years of hosting the annual gathering at Villa Toscana Luxe Hotel also highlight the longstanding relationship between the club and its Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Frank Obasi.
As members departed with renewed enthusiasm and a stronger sense of belonging, the 3rd AGM and Retreat left behind a clear message: the strength of Toscana Sports Club lies not only in its sporting activities or social celebrations but also in the unity, loyalty, mutual respect and shared aspirations of its members.
With its founding ideals still serving as its guiding principles, Toscana Sports Club looks ahead to another year of growth, stronger relationships and greater achievements.
