The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Defence Minister Christopher Musa over his assurance that security agencies would remain neutral during the 2027 general election.

Sowore accused Musa of taking sides with President Bola Tinubu and questioned his ability to ensure impartiality during the polls.

In a post on X, the activist described the minister as a loudmouth, accused him of failing in his duties as a military chief and urged him to focus on insecurity rather than the 2027 elections.

Sowore was reacting to Musa’s comments after meeting President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, where the minister assured Nigerians that security operatives would act professionally and allow citizens to vote without intimidation.

“This retired loudmouth, Christopher Musa, who failed in his duties as a serving General in the Nigerian Army is now here promising free and fair elections in 2027, when he is, in fact, a partisan hack for Tinubu. He should leave 2027 alone and face insecurity,” Sowore wrote.

Musa gave the assurance while speaking to journalists after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. He was accompanied by heads of security agencies.

According to the minister, the meeting was held to brief the President on the security situation ahead of the elections.

Musa said Tinubu wanted the 2027 general election to be free, fair and credible, adding that security agencies would work to ensure voters were not intimidated.
