The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the ongoing display of the Preliminary Register of Voters and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by one week.

In a press statement signed on Wednesday by its National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Khalil, the association urged INEC to extend the exercise from its scheduled October 15 deadline to October 22, 2026.

KACRAN said the exercise covers Nigerians who registered online or physically between August 18 and December 10, 2025, and is being conducted at ward headquarters across local government areas.

The association expressed concern that millions of Nigerians, particularly those in remote rural communities, were unaware of the exercise and might miss the opportunity to collect their voter cards.

“While those residing in big cities, towns, and the elites who follow daily happenings in the national dailies, both print, electronic and social media are informed, the vast majority of Nigerians, especially our members who reside in remote rural areas and bushes, are completely unaware of what is going on,” Khalil said.

He noted that many residents of Northern Nigeria, where the association has a significant membership, were unaware of when the exercise commenced and when it would end.

KACRAN also raised concerns about thousands of internally displaced persons across Northern Nigeria who registered online or physically but were unaware that their PVCs were ready for collection.

“We have also observed that it is only with a one-week extension that we will be able to ensure that our members who did online or physical registration are able to go to their Ward Headquarters to collect their voter cards,” the statement said.

Khalil stressed the importance of ensuring that eligible voters were not disenfranchised, noting that millions of votes could influence the outcome of a presidential election.

“In a country where 8 million plus votes can enable one to be duly elected President, millions of votes are not something to joke or play with,” he added.

The association appealed to INEC to extend the deadline from October 15 to October 22, 2026, to give more Nigerians the opportunity to collect their voter cards.

KACRAN also called on the 19 northern governors to declare Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20, 2026, as work-free days for voter sensitisation if INEC approves the extension.

Furthermore, the association urged media organisations to intensify public awareness campaigns and encouraged Nigerians who had yet to collect their PVCs to visit their respective ward headquarters before the deadline.
