The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) has issued a caution alert following the collapse of a section of the Bauchi-Damaturu-Maiduguri federal highway.
In a statement on Monday, the agency said a significant portion of the road near the Darazo exit had been washed away, making the route impassable.
Photos from the scene showed the highway completely cut into two, with floodwater flowing underneath and forcing motorists to stop.
“As of Sunday, 27th September 2026, a significant portion of the Bauchi-Damaturu road has been cut off near the Darazo exit,” the agency said.
YOSEMA advised motorists travelling along the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri corridor, as well as those travelling from Kano to Gombe, to exercise extreme caution and suspend journeys where possible.
“Motorists travelling along the Bauchi-Yobe-Maiduguri route or from Kano to Gombe are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and take all necessary safety precautions,” it said.
The agency urged road users to prioritise their safety and await further updates on alternative routes and intervention efforts.
