The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a motorcycle-snatching syndicate allegedly terrorising the Guyuk axis of southern Adamawa State.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Saleh, Suleiman Mohammadu and Ahmadu Damina, are reportedly from Shani Local Government Area of neighbouring Borno State.

The command said the suspects were arrested after allegedly attacking and dispossessing a motorcycle rider of his bike at Bobini Village in Guyuk LGA.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects were arrested on September 26, 2026, after allegedly attacking and injuring Abdu Buba of Bobini Village and stealing his motorcycle.

“Shortly after their arrest, a large crowd gathered and attempted to lynch the suspects,” the police said, adding that its operatives and local hunters intervened to prevent the situation from escalating.

The command said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were members of a syndicate specialising in attacking and robbing people of motorcycles and other valuables.

The injured victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment, while police recovered a motorcycle, cutlasses, a torchlight and other items from the suspects.

The command said investigations were ongoing.
