Heavily armed men suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the Medical Director of Multicare Hospital in Makurdi, Benue State, Dr Jonah Ogbaji.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the hospital at about 9:00 pm and took the doctor away in a Toyota Sienna vehicle without identifying themselves.

A daughter of the victim, who spoke to NEWSMEN on condition of anonymity, said the family was yet to establish her father’s whereabouts.

She said the men claimed to be security operatives, making it difficult for hospital workers to determine their identity.

“We have not really established whether they are kidnappers. The people that came claimed that they are security operatives. Workers were not able to describe them,” she said.

According to her, when some workers asked where the doctor was being taken, the men reportedly replied, “just here,” prompting the family to believe he might have been taken to a police division.

She added that the family had visited several police stations in Makurdi but had not found him.
