Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has said he will not seek revenge or retribution for any injustice, ingratitude or injury allegedly done to him by people he supported in the past.
El-Rufai said his priority was to remain at peace with his conscience, leaving ultimate judgment to God.
The former governor made the remarks in an article titled, “My Relationships and the Aftermath.”
He wrote: “As for any injustice, ingratitude or injury done to me, I seek neither revenge nor retribution.”
El-Rufai added that ultimate accountability belongs to Almighty Allah and that he would leave judgment to Him, both in this world and the hereafter.
“In the end, each of us must live with the choices we make, and posterity will render whatever verdict it sees fit. My only concern is to remain at peace with my conscience and, above all, with Almighty Allah,” he stated.
The statement comes amid the reported detention of the former governor by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of corruption, abuse of office and money laundering during his tenure.
The ICPC said El-Rufai was being held under a court remand order.
