The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of misconduct, including dismissals, compulsory retirement, and recommendations for criminal prosecution.
The disciplinary actions were announced in a statement by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, who said the measures followed investigations into 75 officers accused of offences such as employment fraud, financial misconduct, theft, unauthorized absence from duty, and other acts deemed detrimental to national security.
According to the NSCDC, the sanctions were imposed in line with established disciplinary procedures aimed at promoting professionalism, accountability, and integrity within the Corps.
The agency also disclosed that two officers were dismissed over their alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of the Commander of the Mining Marshals, Levi Agada, during an operation against suspected illegal miners in Rafin Gabas, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on February 18, 2026.
Beyond their dismissal, the Corps recommended that the officers be prosecuted in court.
The NSCDC further revealed that four other personnel are currently under investigation over alleged involvement in illegal arms trafficking, while investigations continue into other suspects linked to the destruction of critical national assets and arms smuggling.
