Zonal consultative forum in Ugwuoba targets grassroots mobilization across 81 wards as party leaders call for house-to-house sensitization and polling-unit engagement.
Women and political stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu West Senatorial District have pledged their commitment to grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and other party candidates.
The pledge was made on Sunday, October 18, 2026, during the APC Enugu West Zonal Women and Stakeholders Consultative Forum held at the residence of the convener and APC Enugu West Zonal Chairman, Chief Hon. Nze Chimaobi David, in Ugwuoba, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The meeting brought together women leaders, party members and political stakeholders from across the five local government areas that make up Enugu West Senatorial District. Discussions centred on strengthening party structures, expanding community-level engagement and improving mobilisation across the district’s 81 wards ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Participants emphasised the need to establish effective grassroots coordination and take the party’s campaign messages directly to communities through house-to-house sensitisation, ward meetings and polling-unit engagement.
The initiative is intended to consolidate the party’s structures and mobilise support for President Tinubu, Governor Mbah, candidates for the National Assembly and Enugu State House of Assembly, as well as other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
APC WOMEN LEADERS CALL FOR INTENSIFIED GRASSROOTS ENGAGEMENT
In her opening remarks, the APC Enugu West Zonal Women Leader welcomed participants and announced the commencement of polling-unit meetings as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
She urged women across the senatorial district to take an active role in community sensitisation, voter engagement and grassroots mobilisation, stressing that sustained participation at the local level would be central to the party’s preparations.
The women were encouraged to engage residents in their respective communities, strengthen relationships with party supporters and promote participation in the electoral process.
The forum also featured goodwill messages, stakeholder consultations and the presentation of wrappers and cash gifts to women in recognition of their contributions and continued involvement in party activities.
The gathering commenced with the recitation of the National Anthem and the traditional breaking of the kolanut by Chief Pascal Anayo Uwa, reflecting the cultural significance of the occasion.
CHIMAOBI DAVID REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO GRASSROOTS MOBILIZATION
Addressing the gathering, the convener and APC Enugu West Zonal Chairman, Chief Hon. Nze Chimaobi David, underscored the importance of grassroots participation in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He urged women leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen the party’s structures within their communities and ensure that its messages and programmes reach residents at the grassroots.
David stressed that sustained engagement, effective coordination and active participation by ward and polling-unit structures would be important to the party’s mobilisation efforts in support of President Tinubu, Governor Mbah and other APC candidates.
He further charged party stakeholders to return to their respective communities and intensify grassroots mobilisation, emphasising that the success of the initiative would depend on their direct involvement and commitment at the local level.
The zonal chairman disclosed that he had already returned to his village to concentrate on grassroots political engagement and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that he intended to remain there until after the elections.
His decision, as he explained, underscored his emphasis on community-level political participation and the need for stakeholders to lead mobilisation efforts from their respective localities rather than rely solely on zonal meetings.
In an exclusive interview with UGAMATV, David reiterated his commitment to supporting the APC administration and strengthening grassroots mobilisation across Enugu West.
He also emphasised the importance of continuity in governance, linking it to the pursuit of sustainable development and the implementation of government programmes.
His remarks reinforced the central message of the consultative forum: the need for closer collaboration among party leaders, women stakeholders and grassroots structures as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
ENUGU FIRST LADY COMMENDS THE INITIATIVE
The wife of the Enugu State Governor and First Lady, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, represented by her Personal Assistant, Barr. Mrs. Chidimma Egeonu, commended the organisers for convening the forum.
She described the meeting as an important platform for consultation, political engagement and collaboration among women and other stakeholders working towards strengthening the party’s structures.
The First Lady acknowledged the role of women in political organisation and mobilisation, noting that their participation creates opportunities for greater inclusiveness, stronger party unity and meaningful contributions to collective objectives.
Her message highlighted the importance of providing women with opportunities to participate in political discussions and contribute to decision-making and community engagement.
ENUGU CHIEF OF STAFF HIGHLIGHTS GOVERNMENT PROJECTS
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Government, Barr. Victor Udeh, reaffirmed his support for the APC administration and called on party members to remain actively engaged in preparations for the 2027 elections.
Udeh highlighted several development initiatives being pursued by the Mbah administration, particularly the construction of 260 Type 2 healthcare centres across the political wards in Enugu State.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to essential medical services for people in rural communities. He particularly highlighted its importance to women and children, including access to appropriate healthcare during pregnancy and after childbirth.
He also highlighted the construction of smart green schools, describing the initiative as an investment in the education and future of children across the state.
He noted that the schools were intended to expand access to quality Western education and equip Enugu children with the knowledge and skills to compete with their peers across the globe.
Beyond healthcare and education, the Chief of Staff referenced road infrastructure projects and agricultural development programmes as other areas of attention under the Mbah administration.
Udeh also referenced federal government projects and initiatives under President Tinubu, including road infrastructure and gas pipeline installations in Enugu State and other parts of the South-East.
According to him, the projects have the potential to contribute to economic growth, improve connectivity and support livelihoods across the region.
His address formed part of the broader discussion on governance, development and the role of party structures in communicating government policies and programmes to communities.

Other dignitaries who addressed the gathering included the Executive Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area, Hon. Greg Chijioke Anyaegbudike; the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Mrs. Ugochi Mmadueke; and the member representing Oji River, Awgu and Aninri in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu.
The speakers expressed solidarity with the APC leadership and called for sustained engagement and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also present were the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo; the Special Political Adviser to the Enugu State Governor, High Chief Frank Anioma; Distinguished Senator Ben Collins; and several other APC leaders and stakeholders.
Their participation underscored the involvement of party officials, elected representatives and political stakeholders in the consultative process.
ENUGU WEST WOMEN TURN OUT IN LARGE NUMBERS
The forum recorded a large turnout of women from across the 81 electoral wards in Enugu West Senatorial District, highlighting the organisers’ emphasis on strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots.
The women’s participation provided an opportunity for party leaders to interact with local stakeholders, discuss mobilisation strategies and encourage more structured engagement within their respective communities.
As part of the programme, APC Enugu West Zonal Chairman, Chief Hon. Nze Chimaobi David, presented wrappers and cash gifts to the women in recognition of their contributions to party activities and their continued participation in grassroots political engagement.
The gesture formed part of the activities at the consultative forum, which sought to recognise the contributions of women while encouraging their continued involvement in the party’s mobilisation efforts.
Organisers positioned the gathering as a platform for building stronger connections between zonal leadership and ward-level structures, with particular attention to the role women can play in community outreach, political organisation and democratic participation.
AHEAD OF 2027: FOCUS SHIFTS TO WARD AND POLLING-UNIT STRUCTURES
The APC Enugu West Zonal Women and Stakeholders Consultative Forum represents another effort by party leaders to organise their structures and deepen political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
With the announcement of polling-unit meetings and calls for house-to-house sensitisation, attention is expected to focus on how the mobilisation plans will be coordinated across the district’s wards and communities.
The emphasis on the 81 wards reflects the organisers’ intention to extend mobilisation beyond zonal-level consultations and strengthen engagement within individual communities and polling units.
The effectiveness of the initiative will depend on sustained engagement, cooperation among party stakeholders and the ability to translate commitments made at the meeting into consistent grassroots activities.
Beyond the party’s electoral objectives, the gathering also brought attention to the role of women in political organisation, community outreach and democratic participation.
As preparations for the 2027 polls continue, the forum has set out a mobilisation agenda centred on stronger ward structures, greater involvement of women and sustained interaction between party leaders and their communities.
