The Kwara State Government has announced the release of 176 people who were abducted during the February 3, 2026 attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday in a post shared on the state government’s official Facebook page.
In the statement, the government expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the security agencies and all those who contributed to securing the victims’ release.
The victims were kidnapped when Boko Haram-linked extremists reportedly invaded the rural communities on motorcycles, carrying out a coordinated attack that lasted several hours.
The assault, described as one of the deadliest in Kwara State’s history, reportedly left more than 200 people dead, injured several others, destroyed homes and businesses, and displaced many residents.
The release of the abductees marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to address the aftermath of the attack.
